The Caterpillar^® PC 404 Cold Planer for backhoe loaders features independent self-leveling for constant planing depth and 130 degrees of rotation for smooth, unrestricted performance. Manual depth control allows planing as much as 5 inches (127 mm) deep. Drum width is 18 inches (457 mm). The optimal drum bit pattern and 48 standard all-purpose conical bits equip the planer for maximum cutting performance while ensuring superior surface texture.

The direct-drive, variable-speed hydraulic motor delivers the right mix of cutting bit speed and drum torque for efficient milling. The robust and durable design of the unit ensures maximum balance and vibration-free performance.

Quick disconnects to hydraulic lines allow quick and easy hook up, as a single one-way hydraulic line is all that is required. Caterpillar XT3-ES TM hose provides superior leak-free performance. For fast work tool changes, the planer is compatible with Caterpillar pin grabber couplers.

The PC 404 is designed to economically restore asphalt and concrete paved surfaces—horizontal and inclined—to a specified grade or level. The planer is ideal for milling bumps and imperfections in expanded pavements, removing cracked or deteriorated pavement and working on jobs where weight restrictions limit the use of dedicated planers.
