Two new industrial grapple rakes from Caterpillar® equip skid steer loaders and multi terrain loaders for debris cleanup and land clearing tasks. Each of the robust, bucket-like rakes features tines on the floor to allow dirt and small material to sift through while catching large material. Hydraulically operated dual, independent grapple assemblies clamp and hold irregularly shaped materials when carrying and truck loading.

The two rakes are 72 inches (1829 mm) and 84 inches (2134 mm) wide. High clamping force, large vertical jaw opening and heavy-duty design make the rakes productive and durable.  Reinforced and gusseted tines ensure durability in tough applications. The smaller rake has nine tines and the larger one has 11.

The grapples open vertically to 37 inches (940 mm) to grab large objects, and clamping force is 2,250 pounds (10 kilonewtons) per grapple. Balanced and synchronized hydraulics ensure smooth independent or synchronized grapple clamping while preventing drift. The grapples have grease zerks and hardened and chromed hinge and cylinder pins for reliable operation, and the grapple cylinders are protected to prevent objects from damaging them. Caterpillar® XT-3 ES hydraulic hose with Cordura resists damage and leaks.

Specially designed protection for the machine coupler—manual or hydraulic—increases reliability of the entire system. Connect-under-pressure hydraulic fittings allow for easier connections if the tool has been sitting in the sun and building hydraulic pressure internally.
